The 513 ERHS Archaeological Monitor will be on the island of Tinian, nestled within the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), which has long played a vital strategic role. From its historical significance in World War II to its modern-day military operations, the island continues to evolve to support defense infrastructure and readiness efforts.
With this initiative, the goal is clear: to safeguard the island’s historical and cultural heritage. As operations continue to advance, excavation and construction may uncover significant archaeological resources. The archaeological monitor plays a crucial role in identifying and preserving these artifacts, ensuring compliance with preservation laws and minimizing disruptions to essential projects. Their expertise helps balance infrastructure development with the protection of Tinian’s rich past, maintaining both historical integrity and strategic readiness.
