J–Bearing Inspection and Repair

This announcement serves as a notice of intent to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR 13.106. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 332710. This is the only announcement that will be issued prior to award.

The US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), California Great Basin Region, intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis with Kingbury, Inc. to inspect and repair twelve (12) thrust bearing shoes (TBS), one (1) turbine guide bearing (TGB), and eighteen (18) upper guide bearings (UGB).

There are twelve spare TBS that need inspections, re-babbitting if necessary, and high-pressure lube (HPL) system inspection and testing for Folsom Powerplant Unit 1 generator. The TGB was removed from Folsom Unit 1 in September 2023, inspected, and requires inspection of babbitt, re-babbitting if necessary, and final machining to match the other existing TGBs installed in the Folsom Powerplant generators. Eighteen (18) Upper Guide Bearings (UGB) were removed from Folsom Unit 1 in August of 2023, inspected, and requires inspection of babbitt, rear pivot point inserts, and final machining; and where necessary re-babbitt, replace inserts, and finish machine to match Folsom Powerplant generators.

Firms which can provide the supplies above must submit written notice to the Contracting Officer and must provide evidence in sufficient detail to demonstrate the respondent's ability to meet the stated requirement. This is not a request for competitive quotations. All responses received by the due date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received in response to this synopsis will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. 2) Information that would demonstrate that your business has the capability to provide the supplies mentioned above.
